Meidensha Corporation has long contributed to the development of water treatment systems and sewage treatment systems technology, water processing products technology, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) System technology, facility management services. In recent years, the water processing industry faces various demands due to environmental changes related to “water.” In the Japanese local governments doing the waterworks utility service, they face the deterioration of business environment due to the declining population and subsequent shrinking of water demand. The waterworks operation methods are under review. At the same time, they also face many issues such as aging waterworks facilities and the preventive measures against the natural disasters. In overseas, there are increasing demands for water resources such as increasing demands on water and sewage treatment, needs for treating wastewater or recycled water. Such needs were caused by the increase of population and urbanization.
This special issue introduces our initiatives in realizing the good water environment.
